{"id":1527,"date":"2014-01-01T17:21:54","date_gmt":"2014-01-01T17:21:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bettina-network.com\/blog\/?p=1527"},"modified":"2018-10-21T10:26:14","modified_gmt":"2018-10-21T10:26:14","slug":"organic-peanut-butter-pie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bettinanetwork.com\/blog\/archives\/1527","title":{"rendered":"Organic Peanut Butter Pie"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>copyright Bettina Network, inc. 2014<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">for crust:<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>organic graham crackers (14 crackers)<\/p>\n<p>One stick organic butter<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">for filling:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One 8-ounce package organic cream cheese<\/p>\n<p>Four tablespoons organic butter<\/p>\n<p>Two cups organic turbinado sugar<\/p>\n<p>12 ounces organic peanut butter &#8211; freshly ground, if possible<\/p>\n<p>16 ounces organic heavy cream<\/p>\n<p>Organic Hazelnut syrup to taste<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Prepare crust:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>1. \u00a0Put the graham crackers in a food processor and spin under turned into crumbs<\/p>\n<p>2. \u00a0Melt butter, turn on processor and gradually pour butter into the graham cracker crumbs<\/p>\n<p>3. \u00a0Pulse until the entire contents of the processor look well mixed.<\/p>\n<p>4. Butter a deep pie plate, pour in crumbs and push them around until the crumbs are generally covering the<\/p>\n<p>bottom and sides of the pie plate. \u00a0Press them down all around, packing them tightly in the pie plate to create the pie crust.<\/p>\n<p>5. Bake at 325 degrees for 8 minutes. \u00a0Let cool before pouring in filling.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">prepare filling<\/span>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1. \u00a0Whip Cream Cheese for at least 5 minutes in an electric stand mixer<\/p>\n<p>2. \u00a0Add 4 tablespoons butter and continue whipping for another 5 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>3. \u00a0Add sugar and continue to whip for another five minutes.<\/p>\n<p>4. \u00a0Add organic Hazelnut syrup and peanut butter and whip until mixed.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Be careful at this stage<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Do not over mix as the peanut butter will separate from its oil<\/p>\n<p>If that happens, it is not a disaster &#8211; just continue and ignore the oil, it will reincorporate into the pie filling when you add heavy cream.<\/p>\n<p>5. \u00a0Slowly add heavy cream and continue to mix until the filling is light and fluffy and all the ingredients seem to be one. \u00a0A good filling resembles light brown whipped cream.<\/p>\n<p>Pour the filling into the pie shell and freeze for at least two hours.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">MY NOTES:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There is no such thing as a free lunch<\/p>\n<p>To make good food it takes an investment of time, thought, energy and the very best organic ingredients one can find.<\/p>\n<p>You can tell the level of a persons ability to care and take responsibility by how well or how ill they cook. \u00a0Beware the one who burns lots of things and whose food comes out tasting pretty awful. \u00a0Stay far &#8211; far away from them.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Some Random Thoughts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you have to buy peanut butter in a jar, it will be separated into oil (on top) and butter (on bottom of jar). \u00a0Don&#8217;t let the health nuts get to you &#8211; resist the temptation to discard the oil. \u00a0That action will ruin your pie and it will be far less nourishing.<\/p>\n<p>Did you know the combination of peanut butter and milk makes for a complete meal?<\/p>\n<p>You can use organic peanuts and grind them into peanut butter. \u00a0I am dedicated, but not to that extent. \u00a0The taste, I conjecture, would be far superior.<\/p>\n<p>Try smooth or crunchy peanut butter. \u00a0Either makes a great pie &#8211; it depends upon your taste.<\/p>\n<p>Or use smooth and grind a few peanuts saving a few to sprinkle on top of the pie before serving. \u00a0That might satisfy the need to grind your own. \u00a0And it says to whoever sees the pie what kind of pie it is.<\/p>\n<p>While mixing this pie, make yourself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. \u00a0Since the pie has to be refrigerated and\/or frozen for several hours before you can cut and eat it, this should satisfy the craving to instantly cut and taste.<\/p>\n<p>Have a cup or organic tea with your sandwich while you make notes about the pie that you don&#8217;t want to forget or that you want to incorporate into your next pie. \u00a0I like half Earl Grey and half peppermint leaf. \u00a0It is a nice accompaniment and also helps you to digest the pie, especially if you are over 60.<\/p>\n<p>If there is no one around to take away your mixing bowl to get the leavings &#8211; instead of the sandwich, scrape the bowl yourself onto graham crackers and have that with your tea. \u00a0It makes just as nice a treat as the peanut butter sandwich. \u00a0You can&#8217;t do this when others are in the kitchen because you will only have enough left in the mixing bowl for one.<\/p>\n<p>While eating the pie and drinking the tea, write a few notes leaving your thoughts to posterity. \u00a0Your notes could be about the process, an improved technique, your changing the ingredients or totally unrelated thoughts which you had while making and eating the pie. \u00a0All are relevant to the creative cooking process. \u00a0A book could be created just with such notes.<\/p>\n<p>________________________________________________________________<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bettina-network.com\/blog\/donation-page\">Learn More About How We Use Your Donation!<\/a><\/p>\n<p>[give_form id=&#8221;3763&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p>______________________________________________________________<\/p>\n<p><strong>Want to join us?<\/strong> Have a home that you want to open to become one of <strong>Bettina Network&#8217;s Hedge Schools?<\/strong> Call us and lets talk &#8211; or email us.<\/p>\n<p>Ed.
