{"id":39,"date":"2009-03-12T21:37:00","date_gmt":"2009-03-12T21:37:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bettina-network.com\/blog\/?p=39"},"modified":"2018-10-01T18:14:08","modified_gmt":"2018-10-01T18:14:08","slug":"a-readers-ginger-tea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bettinanetwork.com\/blog\/archives\/39","title":{"rendered":"A Reader&#8217;s Ginger Tea"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thank you for a wonderful blog! \u00a0I look forward to reading your new entries.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>This tea is one I have made for years and enjoy immensely. \u00a0I hope your readers have the same experience.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Use &#8211; of course, I wouldn&#8217;t defile your blog by suggesting anything other than &#8220;organic ginger root&#8217;. \u00a0A pot that holds the &#8217;25 cups&#8217; you suggested in another blog is a good size for this. \u00a0I don&#8217;t take the fancy route &#8211; I make the tea in a large stainless steel pot and put the pot in the refrigerator when its finished. \u00a0Somehow, having stayed at one of your homes, I don&#8217;t think my stainless steel pot is going to gain me any followers and you folks would probably rather do this in a glass pot, but this is how I make the tea.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Use about three large pieces of organic ginger root. \u00a0You can use more or less depending upon whether you want a stronger or weaker ginger taste. \u00a0Slice them into fairly thin slices &#8211; although not too thin &#8211; \u00a0and put them in the pot full of water. \u00a0Put this on the stove with a tight cover and let it boil for a couple hours. \u00a0When finished boiling, have a cup of tea and put the rest of the pot in the refrigerator. \u00a0As you would like more tea &#8211; dip out a cup, heat it on the stove and enjoy until the pot runs dry.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Some people &#8211; southern people &#8211; will probably like this tea better with sugar. \u00a0(Organic sugar only, or with a little honey &#8211; I like Tupelo Honey). \u00a0Others &#8211; northern people &#8211; will probably like this tea better without sugar.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Leave the ginger in the pot until it is empty, then spread the ginger on a baking sheet, sprinkle with sugar and put it in the oven for 45 minutes or so and you can enjoy your leftovers as crystallized ginger.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Hope this is good payment for the enjoyment I&#8217;ve had reading your blogs.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Please don&#8217;t put my name on this &#8211; I like my privacy.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Thanks,<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-weight: bold;\">3\/17\/2009<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"color: #660000;\">FROM THE ONE WHO HOLDS THIS BLOG TOGETHER<\/span><\/span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"color: #660000;\">: \u00a0Thanks to the reader for a wonderful tea and a great comfort during the winter months. \u00a0We received this note in November and have tried it many times before putting it in the blog. \u00a0It is fantastic. \u00a0There is nothing like the &#8216;heat&#8217; of this tea to make the winter cold go away. \u00a0We tried it in a glass container with a spout on the end to be able to go into the refrigerator to turn the spout and get a cup of tea, but we couldn&#8217;t get it to work well, especially when we wanted to heat up several cups of tea. \u00a0We were in the refrigerator with the door open for too long waiting for enough tea to be poured, so we relented and have a large, ugly, stainless steel pot in the refrigerator from which we regularly dip out cups of tea for ourselves and for guests.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div>_________________________________________________-<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bettina-network.com\/blog\/donation-page\">Learn More About How We Use Your Donation!<\/a><\/p>\n<p>[give_form id=&#8221;3763&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p>______________________________________________________________<\/p>\n<p><strong>Want to join us?<\/strong> Have a home that you want to open to become one of <strong>Bettina Network&#8217;s Hedge Schools?<\/strong> Call us and lets talk &#8211; or email us.<\/p>\n<p>Ed.
