{"id":92,"date":"2010-01-12T09:57:00","date_gmt":"2010-01-12T09:57:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bettina-network.com\/blog\/?p=92"},"modified":"2018-10-08T14:58:54","modified_gmt":"2018-10-08T14:58:54","slug":"creole-breakfast-cake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bettinanetwork.com\/blog\/archives\/92","title":{"rendered":"Creole Breakfast Cake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>copyright by The Bettina Network, inc. 2010<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Creole&#8221; is New Orleans Creole.<br \/>\nThis is a quick and simple breakfast cake which can be made in less than 20 minutes. \u00a0Very good if you want a nice ending to breakfast and don&#8217;t want to spend hours baking. \u00a0If you want to dress it up, whip a little heavy cream, add organic turbinado sugar to the heavy cream and drop a dollop on top of a slice of this cake. \u00a0Rumor has it the recipe was created in a convent in New Orleans when the nuns were cleaning out the refrigerator and baked this with what they had.<\/p>\n<p>Ingredients:<br \/>\n1\/2 cup Organic Turbinado Sugar<br \/>\n1\/2 cup Organic, Stone-Ground, Whole Wheat Flour<\/p>\n<p>for this cake you can use either Pastry or Regular Flour, depending upon your taste at the time<br \/>\nUse Pastry Flour when you want a more refined cake, Regular Flour when you want<br \/>\nsomething a little heartier &#8211; just make sure whatever you use is not only Organic and Whole Wheat<br \/>\nbut it is also Stone Ground &#8211; a very important distinction &#8211; otherwise the flour is milled with heat<br \/>\nwhich destroys all of the nutrition and it becomes a flour which has a very long shelf life. \u00a0It has<br \/>\nthat long shelf life because bugs won&#8217;t touch it &#8211; there is no nutrition in it. \u00a0Even bugs know you<br \/>\ndon&#8217;t bother eating what doesn&#8217;t contribute to your life and health. \u00a0What bugs won&#8217;t eat, neither<br \/>\nshould you. \u00a0A long shelf life benefits the seller, and ruins the health of the\u00a0buyer.<\/p>\n<p>1 Tablespoon baking power<br \/>\n1\/2 teaspoon salt<br \/>\n1\/2 cup Organic milk (preferably raw)<br \/>\n1 organic egg<br \/>\n4 Tablespoons Organic butter (melted)<br \/>\nExtra \u00a0Organic Turbinado Sugar and Cinnamon to mix and sprinkle over top of cake.<\/p>\n<p>Preheat oven to 350 degrees.<br \/>\nMix the sugar, flour, baking powder and sale. \u00a0Add the egg, milk and melted butter. \u00a0Mix well.
