Everytime we think we have seen this current presidency sink as low as it is possible to sink, Donald Trump shows us he can go even lower.
Recently, as we all known, a picture of Donald Trump appeared with the current president of these United States dressed as pope.
Donald Trump, who is charging Harvard with anti-semitism and fighting that University and others claiming they are bigoted reached the depths of anti-Catholic bigotry and apparently thinks that is just fine and elevates him in the eyes of his supporters.
“President” Trump has given bigots in these United States a green light to express and act on their extreme prejudices in every way possible and this latest – celebrating Pope Francis’ death with pictures of himself established as pope is beyond anything we have seen in recent times.
Where do you stand?
Did you think it was funny – laughed and found yourself amused for sometime after you saw and/or heard about this continuing extreme prejudice practiced by the President of the United States? – check off yourself as anti-Catholic.
Do you remember how anti-Catholic we were and still are in these United States? – Jews, African Americans, Latina peoples, women, LGBTQ peoples, Catholics, other religions outside of the traditional Protestant denominations, and on and on we go. With the bigotry/prejudices/abuse against those who are not ‘white’, not northern european ancestry peoples, not male now have to deal with those actively practicing their bigotry with impunity and those bigots find themselves led in their bigoted practices by the current president of the United States – Donald J. Trump.
We are seeing a man leading a pact of bigots into acts which are constantly slammed against those we consider “minorities”. The “others” Those whose blood sweat and tears actually built this country. Isn’t that why “President” Donald Trump and his supporters are rampaging through and negating – getting rid of – and threatening those peoples and institutions who keep such guidelines and laws alive which strive to make this a better, more equal country? –
The Affirmative Action/Diversity/Voter guidelines put in place to make this a better more equal country are constantly being torn down by “President” Trump and his followers. Those guidelines and laws for which many – including Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. – gave their lives so the rest of us could begin to experience a more equal business, educational, personal life and so thereby we all could thrive?
All of that history, all of those sacrifices so we could elect a president who thinks it is alright to dress up as the pope and mock Catholicism while his followers laugh?
I used to wonder how racism, sexism and all the rest could still be around after so many decades and so many lives were sacrificed to destroy it. When Donald Trump was elected president after he had shown himself to be an abuser of women; financially irresponsible with many bankruptcies; a person who contracted for work, materials and labor refusing to pay; abused the educational institutional structure to steal from those trying to get an education to move ahead in this country; who becomes president and tries to take down legitimate positively functioning universities because he could not make a fortune illegally within the “university” he constructed to rip off those who registered within his so called university; and who has done so much more with impunity, I finally have begun to understand and so do the rest of you.
My life has been spent fighting for a better world – a more equal world – a kind and caring world – and I have received extreme retaliation in return. It is clear to me today that all of that happens because a little over half the voters in these United States lack the moral values to cast their votes for goodness, kindness, graciousness, caring, reaching out to those in need, constructing constantly a country which recognizes and responds positively to religious values instead of setting up a few religions they can hide behind, negating and doing evil without accepting any responsibility or need to do good – as long as material wealth and the promise to continue their need to be “better than” comes from those running for office.
My religion tells me to say at this point – God forgive! However, I can actually only ask – my God how can you forgive?
